Once Upon a Time in America

I finally wrote an article in english. From now on, I'll write all my future DVD reviews in English. Because I want to improve my writing skills in English, please feel free to correct me!

Once Upon a Time in America was the last film directed by the famous italian film director Sergio Leone's. It is untypically for Leone that this movie is originally titled in english because all other movis directed by him have an italian title. The reason for that is that Leone's skills in english were poor. However, there was for the italian public also an italian title: C'era una volta in America.

If one is mentioning Once Upon a Time in America, you should associate it to films directed by Leone like

Once Upon a Time in America is a movie which has a non-linear storyline. In the beginning, you see the main character, David "Noodle" Aaronson (Robert de Niro) who is remembering his life from his early childhood when he began as small gangster (played by Scott Tiler) in the jewish ghettos during america's prohibition (1920-1933). There, he grew to a boss of a small gang and his andventures as a gansters with its ups and downs. He encounters his friend, Maximilian 'Max' Bercovicz (James Woods), who is later to participing the guidingship of his gang. All these members of this gang are close friends together and they said that they would die for each other. In the aged years, the will but much different than they ever imagined. This film is a film about love, jalousy, friendship - and betrayal. So, they are going through almost all troubles troubles untill Max decides to dare a dangerous coup.

Once Upon a Time in America is an epos that is told with very beautiful pictures, songs and good actors and actresses. It won some awards and became nominated for the golden globe awards but didn't win it. It became famous to be one of the best mafia movies ever. Only legendary movies like the Godfather I-III are a quite gap better than Leone's. But there is to be said that Once Upon a Time in America is with no doubt a masterpice with a dramatic story.
